The word of the Lord: Matthew 4
Take claim and declare my word. For I will answer in response to my word. It is written!
Prayer is so powerful and all too often we underestimated the dynamic power that we have been given to effect change in our lives, our communities and even the world. R.A. Torrey said “Prayer is Omnipotent, it can do what God can do!” WOW imagine that! That your prayers can do what God can do. No limits, no boundaries just answered prayers. You may ask yourself how this is possible and the answer can be found in three little yet powerful words…. IT IS WRITTEN.
There are several places in the New Testament where you will find Jesus quoting the Old Testament prophets using the words, “It is written.” And the Apostles following in the footsteps of Jesus begin to do the same, quoting the Old Testament and Jesus. And since they are our examples this should prove to us the importance of proclaiming the word of God in our prayers or simply put, quoting the scriptures. When Jesus was in the wilderness and Satan can to temp him, Jesus pulled out the most powerful weapon there was. The Word!
Matthew 4:4 - But he answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but my every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:7- Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God
Matthew 4:10 -Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you,[d] Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.
And my favorite: Matthew 21:13a – It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer.
Some thirty-eight hundred times the Bible declares, “God said,” or “Thus says the Lord” and our great example Jesus saw this as a foundational principle in every aspect of his life. He would quote scripture to overcome evil, to bring healing, to teach the disciples, to encourage, to empower, etc, etc and we should do the same. Why? Because God's word cannot ever fail. It is all-powerful and can do anything. When we bring God’s word directly into our praying, we are bringing God’s power into our praying. Hebrews 4:12 declares, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword.”
Let’s journey back to the beginning, where there was nothing just space, just God. Yet, with a single command from His mouth everything that is came into existence. (Psalm 33:6). And by that same word, and that same mouth, God has promised to give us anything we ask for in prayer. More than that, He has given us His guarantee in writing.
Mark 11:24 - Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And then a few chapters later Jesus reminds us again saying: "I tell you solemnly once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it will be granted to you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in my name, I shall be there with them." (Matt.18:19-20).
When we infuse our prayers with the word of God our prayers become effective, powerful and unstoppable. Hebrews 4:12 declares, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword.” And by praying the Word of God you are bringing God’s power and all that he is into your prayers. When praying the Word of God, you are talking his language, words that he understands, words that he has promised to watch over and perform. Jeremiah 1:12.
As a believer you have been given an amazing opportunity to come boldly and in full confidence before the throne of God the Father. And as you stand before a holy God, you have nothing to fear because you are not coming on your own merit, or authority. You are coming in the name of Jesus to ask of the Father, something that he has already promised to give you! You are simply giving him back his word or as Isaiah 43:26 says, “Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that you may be justified.”
And according to John15:7, which says, “If ye abide in me [Jesus], and MY WORDS abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” Faith in Jesus and absolute trust in the Word he has spoken will land you in the realm of answered prayer every time. And this is where you want to live. The place where prayers are answered, lives are transformed and miracles are performed.
If we want to see change in our lives and the lives of those around us and in our nation we must begin to use the most powerful weapon that we have been given and that is the “Sword of the spirit- the Word of God.” Remember ALL of God’s power comes to us through prayer because prayer can do what God can do. NO LIMITS, NO BOUNDREIS! For example if someone needs healing for their eyes or ears; you can declare; It is written; blessed are your eyes, for they do see; and your ears, for they do hear (Matthew 13:16. If someone is dealing with depression or oppression you can declare; it is written; Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. (Isaiah 61:3). If someone is in prison, you can declare; it is written; He has sent me to announce the release of prisoners. (Luke 4:18)
As we are praying through these 100 days, be encourage and know in your heart that the prayer you are asking for will be answered, even at the very moment you ask for it to be done. When praying believe with all your heart that God has already answered your request and begin to thank him for answered prayer. God is listening… What are you speaking?
~Your prayers are powerful and when you pray the Word your prayers become active, alive, and full of power that can be used to bring forth blessings. Below are a few scriptural prayers and declarations that can be prayed during your 1 hour of prayer. Enjoy and get ready to enter the realm of ANSWERED PRAYER!

A Prayer for a season of intense favour.
Father, I thank You. Father in the Name of Jesus I proclaim this season of intense favour of the Lord upon my life.
I pray that You will take every ounce of weariness out of my physical, emotional, mental, spiritual state. I pray that You will bring me to a place of laughter, love and fresh intimacy in the Name of Jesus. Father I pray that I will come to such a place of joy and delight, That I will be transformed into a different person.
And I ask Lord that your intentionality in this matter will be transmitted into my heart fully day after day after day. You’ll teach me how to rest. how to worship. That I will have that season of learning how to live in that fragrant presence of God. I ask that all You want to say to me, and be to me and do for me, will come to me without hindrance or lack.
That You will come down into my heart with your goodness and transform me. Transform my thinking, my praying and my very being before You.
That I will become a forerunner of a bold and intimate people who are confident in the very nature of God. That I will become a pioneer of a new way of praying in the Spirit.
That Father You would teach me to come before You like a much-loved bride. That I would pray with joy, and delight and laughter. That Lord my yoke will be easy, my burden will be light because I’ve learnt how to love the KING in a deeper way. I pray this in Jesus’ Name.
